THE JOB BOARD

LANDSCAPE LABOURER

The Opportunity

As a landscape labourer, you will work closely with the Landscape Team to complete projects as outlined in the landscape plans. You will be required to operate a variety of tools and work in a variety of outdoor settings throughout the year. 

You will have a positive attitude while working and present yourself professionally to the customers, neighbours, inspectors, and other staff.  

Finally, in every aspect of your job, you will work safely and ensure that others are working safely around you.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

As a Team:

  • Construct steel and vinyl pools 
  • Construct walkways, patios, walls, and other hardscape features
  • Dig ditches, trenches, and perform other land-clearing activities
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed to complete projects
  • Operate hand tools and power tools as needed to complete projects
  • Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, and by hand
  • Lay topsoil and sod during project clean up
 

As an Individual:

  • May be required to assist in the retrieval of hard goods from suppliers
  • The above Team tasks may sometimes be completed individually
 

Working Conditions:

  • Work is completed outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, excessive dust, noise, and cold; must be able to dress appropriately for the weather
  • Working in residential environments; imperative that you are polite and friendly

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
 

Experience

  • Experience in outdoor landscape work preferred
  • Experience building pools an asset
 

Knowledge / Skill / Ability

  • Ability to walk, stand and crouch for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and carry out strenuous tasks
  • Must be able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work as a team and by yourself

AZ DRIVER

The Opportunity

As an AZ Driver at Majestic Pools, you will work closely with the Landscape Team to move product to and from job sites. This will require you to pick up materials from suppliers throughout central Ontario and deliver them to job sites in the Barrie, Simcoe County, and surrounding areas.

You will be required to operate both tandem and single-axel trucks, and hauling trailers with equipment to job sites. You may be required to help load and unload the materials and equipment as necessary. 

You will have a positive attitude while working and present yourself professionally to suppliers, customers, neighbours, inspectors, and other staff.  

You will be responsible for inspecting the vehicle on a daily basis and reporting any defects to management as soon as possible. 

Finally, in every aspect of your job, you will work safely and ensure that others are working safely around you. Your knowledge of road safety regulations and driver requirements is imperative.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

As a Team:

  • Coordinate with the Landscape Team, Landscape Designer, and Service Team for daily tasks
  • Help with unloading of material on site whenever necessary
  • Assist the Landscape Team with site clean up
 

As an Individual:

  • Plan driving routes to ensure that goods are delivered to customers in a timely manner
  • Drive appropriate vehicles to complete daily tasks; may require switching vehicles during the day
  • Sign for pickups and deliveries; handle and return paperwork to the office within appropriate timelines
  • Regularly inspect and maintain the company trucks to ensure that they are roadworthy
  • Wash and clean the company trucks as needed to maintain high standards of cleanliness
  • Promptly notifying the supervisor of any major mechanical issues, traffic violations, and accidents involving the company truck
  • The above Team tasks may sometimes be completed individually
 

Working Conditions:

  • Work is completed outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, excessive dust, noise, and cold; must be able to dress appropriately for the weather
  • Working in residential environments and communicating face-to-face with suppliers; imperative that you are polite and friendly

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
 

Experience

  • Must have 3-5 years driving experience
  • Experience working in a landscape construction environment an asset
  • Knowledge of Barrie, Simcoe County and surrounding areas an asset
 

Knowledge / Skill / Ability

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and carry out strenuous tasks
  • Must be confident driving in busy urban areas
  • Ability to work as a team and by yourself
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must have strong time management skills 
  • Must be able to follow instructions
  • Must have patience and ability to adapt to changing circumstances

FRAMING CARPENTER

The Opportunity

As a Framing Carpenter at Majestic Pools, you will be a key member of the team, helping to build backyard dreams. While you will focus mostly on constructing unique pool houses, cabanas, and other outdoor structures, there may be times when you will be helping to construct decks and fences for our customers to finish off their backyards.

You will be required to interact with customers, suppliers, inspectors, and other Majestic Pools employees: professionalism is key. You must also have the ability to follow construction plans to meet customer expectations and ensure that all municipal inspection requirements are met.

Finally, in every aspect of your job, you will work safely and ensure that others are working safely around you. You will be responsible for reporting unsafe work conditions and tools to your employer immediately. You must be prepared with the proper PPE and understanding of the hazards.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities

As a Team:

  • Collaborate with team members and clients on a daily basis to understand each project’s needs and goals
  • Ensure that plans are followed, inspections are booked, and materials are ordered in a timely manner
  • Assist with project costing

As an Individual:

  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings in order to build structures that meet the Ontario Building Code and meet local by-law requirements
  • Rough framing and building wooden structures, including walls and roofs for different styles of structures
  • Finishing carpentry duties as necessary
  • Ability to maintain a clean workspace and general respect for customer property
  • The above Team tasks may sometimes be completed individually

Working Conditions:

  • Work is completed outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, excessive dust, noise, and cold; must be able to dress appropriately for the weather
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, physically demanding work
  • Working in residential environments; imperative that you are polite and friendly

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma (required)
  • Licensed journeyman carpenter certificate (asset, not required)

Experience

  • 1-3 years experience required
  • Knowledge of Barrie, Simcoe County, and surrounding areas an asset

Knowledge / Skill / Ability

  • Rough framing skills
  • Finishing carpentry skills
  • Solid knowledge of power and hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • General understanding of Ontario Building Code
  • Strong communication skills
